Tammy James, MSW, LCSW, LISW-CP

I’m a wife, mother, and therapist passionate about helping people uncover who they truly are and build lives that reflect their values. Over the years, I found myself eclipsed by a growing list of responsibilities, and I became an expert “over-functioner.” In trying to hold everything together, I began to slowly disappear.
My practice is grounded in Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST), a therapeutic approach that helps individuals understand how relational dynamics and emotional patterns influence their lives. With advanced clinical training in BFST, I support clients navigating a range of challenges—including parenting, separation, divorce, codependency, over-functioning, major life transitions, stress, anxiety, and depression—through the lens of relational insight and emotional clarity.
Together, we’ll explore how past family dynamics and current relationships influence your emotional responses. Our work will help you develop a stronger sense of self and greater emotional resilience.
I’m licensed to provide therapy in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.
